Time has four specific rules. This update to Timecrest breaks the third rule.
We’ve rewritten Timecrest 1: Fated Connections entirely to bring it up to the level of adventure, mystery, and emotion that it has always deserved. With this update, we deepened the story and characters to the level of what we always imagined and wished they could be. There will also be some new Easter eggs since it’s the season. Lastly, we kept the structure the same so it will not affect the comprehension of future story for those that have completed their journey.
But for those who choose to take the journey again, a familiar, yet fresh new adventure awaits you.
This update adds around 120,000 new words. This brings Timecrest up to a whopping total of over 640,000 words. Timecrest 2: The Door also gets a fresh coat of paint as we’ve adjusted many scenes to match. This is also our biggest app update ever with over 50 new features and bug fixes, as well as adding animations and accessibility improvements for all to enjoy.
Ash opens the pocket watch, filled with hope. Will you respond?
New Features
Chapters 1 to 6 have been completely rewritten, and we’ve made improvements to the text in Chapters 7 through 10.
All new animations. Lots of new animations and polish added throughout the story, such as when selecting a response, turn back time, silenced responses.
New Notices dialog. Added a “Mark All as Read” button.
New fullscreen Settings menu.
Notification system completely rewritten.
New Help/FAQ page accessible from Settings.
Added a social hub in Relationships, so you always have an easy link to access the community.
Added a tutorial to prompt you to buy teleport orbs from the merchant.
Added background sounds to more scenes.
Added 5 Teleport Orb and 5 Aura Potion options in the merchant.
Added a few new easter eggs that we’re not going to spoil here!
Changes
Removed vibrations/haptics. We’re going to focus on music, sound effects, and in-game animations moving forward.
Don’t show Luthor’s relationship unless you’ve reached Timecrest 3 or you have gained relationship with Luthor.
Removed “Do Not Disturb” setting, since iOS has better system-level options for managing notifications.
Changed the order of “Fulgur” in the Music Player.
A song is now named “Dragon Rider” unless you learn the Dragon Rider’s name.
Changed the One Time Welcome Pack. No longer grants 5 Teleport Orbs, instead gives 750 Gold.
Changed the icons in the bottom tab bar.
After picking a map location, added a last response and system message for consistency.
VoiceOver Changes and Fixes
The Messages UI will now no longer scroll under the header and footer. It was confusing when the VoiceOver cursor could move under those UI elements.
Made references to Red Message and Blue Message more consistent across the game.
Improved accessibility labels for the last responded option.
Fixed bug where sometimes a blank line would be autocaptioned as “outdoors.”
Completely reworked “Music Follows Cursor” to be smoother and less buggy.
Added descriptive labels to header images.
Fixed a bug where the year would not display in the Memory Oracle.
Removed the announcement on how much gold you have when gold changes, as it intrusive. Added text stating your remaining gold when performing actions.
Collecting from Morty now automatically closes the screen.
Changed “Suppress Ellipses” feature. Instead of replacing ellipses with dots, now it adds commas to simulate the character pause.
Updated outdated text in descriptive help.
Fixed a bug where ALRA Machines would not update after purchase/vend.
Fixed a bug where highlighting the busy timer with the VoiceOver cursor right at zero seconds will announce the wrong timer.
Fixed a bug where responses would sometimes say “dimmed.”
Fixed a bug where purchasing one-time welcome pack would not update the accessibility label.
Added Bunarfs to pronunciation mode dictionary.
Bug Fixes
Fixed many bugs and issues with History that caused text to not show up or show incorrectly. Because some of the fixes have to do with how we store saved games, you may still see incorrect text until you start a new run of Timecrest.
Greatly decreased the time it takes to load the History screen.
Fixed a spot where you were supposed to be able to receive relationship with A.C. but could not do so.
Fixed a bug where if you load a game from a different installment of Timecrest, the title menu did not update.
Suppressed the Notices screen if this is your first time playing.
Fixed an issue where the tutorial UI prompting you to open the pocket watch to see the pouch was not showing.
Fixed several bugs around the text auto-completing to the end when skipping a busy timer, especially in the map.
Fixed several bugs around the text auto-completing when taking damage multiple times in the same segment.
Fixed a bug where there would be no push notification when a new chapter starts.
Fixed several bugs where ambient sounds (like fire) cut out forever or play in screens that they aren’t supposed to.
Fixed a bug where music would cut out when removing headphones.
Fixed a bug where music would cut out when receiving a phonecall.
Fixed a bug where music would not play when you return from reading a Memory Oracle.
Language
We’ve done the largest pass we’ve ever done on editing spelling and grammar throughout Timecrest and the Memory Oracles. Thank you to everyone who submitted fixes.
Added a few more words to the language filter.
Added many missing periods.
Cleaned up and made ellipsis use more consistent.
